The University of London’s £140 million student residential development, Garden Halls, designed by tp bennett in partnership with Maccreanor Lavington, has been awarded Offsite Project of the Year at the Building Awards 2017. The ceremony took place on Tuesday 7 November at Grosvenor House on Park Lane.
Commissioned by UPP and its partner, University of London, executive architect tp bennett worked in partnership with Maccreanor Lavington – architect for the principal façades – to design the 59,831 sq m building in the heart of Bloomsbury. The building is one of the largest student residential developments in London, with 1,200 rooms giving a 18% net increase in the university’s capacity. The halls comprise a mix of catered and non-catered accommodation, with facilities including a garden café, communal areas, flexible meeting rooms, cinema room, music and games rooms as well as cycle storage and tennis courts.
